im getting a puppy in the summer and i cant decide between a yorkie and a shiba inu. my bff just got a yorkie and she is so cute and small..and VERy sweet. but im not sure. shibas are good dogs.

One is a spunky little terrier. The other is a dominant hard to control Spitz breed.
Two incredibly different dogs. Not even remotely similar in one on on comparisons.
I can’t tell you what’s better for you. For me, if I had not other dogs, I’d take a Shiba in a heartbeat. But, I also have the time and money to properly train it, socialize it, and care for it full time.
If you’ve never owned a dog all on your own, then a Yorkie will be better. By far.
Head to the breed club websites to be sure these dogs are what you want.

Are you KIDDING? Yorkies and Shiba Inus are completely different animals. And Shibas are dog aggressive with dominant temperaments.
Stick with the yorky. Or get a gold fish. I think you might be better off with the fish.

Please, Please, Please do your homework on the shiba. Talk with owners and breeders. Go on websites and read about them.
Shibas are marvelous dogs, but they are VERY demanding. They are among the smartest and most controlling of dogs, even worse than Parson Russell Terriers, and you must understand them and be able to deal with them.
Someone once summed it up, saying, "It’s difficult to live with a dog that’s smarter than I am."
For the owner who knows what to expect and can deal with it, shibas are great dogs.

Legit: She is very right, those are two totally different breeds. You are obviously purely going off of physical characteristics which is a bad way to choose a dog. Go to the AKC website or look up a dog breed quiz to find a dog that would suit your lifestyle the best.

As pointed out they are 2 very different breeds. It is not about the looks. Shibas are a difficult breed & not for a novice or teen owner. If you are wanting a dog to cuddle & snuggle & be your lil lap baby, a shiba is not for you. They like attention – on their own terms not yours. They don’t like being held & cuddled. They prefer to come to you .when they want attention otherwise they are fine alone by themselves. Try reading this link for better info on shibas.

Not to mention a shiba is far more money than a yorkie esp. if you want a quality dog of either breed expect to pay big bucks. There are plenty of horribly bred yorkies & now shibas.
