Whats the Difference Between Shiba and Akita ? and Akita Inu and Shiba Inu ?

i know what the difference is between japanese and american is,
but not shiba and akita or akita inu and shiba inu ?

A Shiba IS a Shiba Inu and an Akita IS an Akita Inu. They’re the same breeds.

The only difference between the American and Japanese dogs are the bloodlines and some possible differences in appearance.

So the differences between an Akita and Shiba are the SAME EXACT differences between the Akita Inu and Shiba Inu.

The main differences between the Shiba Inu and Akita Inu are as follows:

SIZE (obvious, right?)
Akitas are more playful
Shiba bond equally with all family members, Akitas tend to pick one "favorite" person
Akitas provide more protection from home intruders
Shibas will be less expensive to "maintain" so to speak. Less food eaten, less genetic problems=less vet visits.
While they both shed the same way, Akitas are bigger so they have MORE fur to lose.
Shibas need less exercise. They’ll walk with you forever, but they don’t need much to stay in shape and stay calm.

    Akita’s are great for bear hunting while shiba isn’t so great.

    The word inu is just Japanese for Dog – so that side of it doesn’t really mean anything else.

    However size wise the Shiba is about half the size or even a third of the size of an akita.

    Still a difficult dog to raise and handle but not quite the power.

    In the US, there is the Shiba Inu and the Akita. The word ‘Inu’ simply means ‘Dog’ in Japanese.

    Shiba = Shiba Inu
    Akita = Akita Inu

    If you are asking what the differences between the Akita and the Shiba are, well, they are two different Japanese Spitz Breeds. Shibas are much smaller, tend to be less aggressive, are smarter, and have this amazing Shiba scream. Akitas are stronger animals overall – temperament, body, etc. Akitas are hunting/guarding dogs. Shibas were bred to hunt small game, bears, and boars.

    A Shiba Inu is MUCH smaller in size! LOL It’s like a mini version!
    Both breeds are originally bred in Japanese, which is where the INU comes from INU is Japanese for DOG. lol
    The Shiba Inu is one of the 6 original breeds originating in Japan. The smallest one.
    So, basically almost the same, just smaller.
